As student participants in DIFFA by Design, NYSID was selected to design and build an exhibition for the 2023 International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) at the Jacob Javits Center.

In response to DIFFA’s 2023 theme, “Healing,” our installation explored the urgent need for environmental recovery through the lens of sustainability and its global impact.

We presented three visions of the future, anchored by two contrasting scenarios:

• Left side: A dystopian world shaped by continued environmental neglect and unsustainable practices.

• Right side: A hopeful future made possible by the adoption of sustainable solutions and collective responsibility.

A central mirrored wall invited viewers to reflect—literally and figuratively—on their individual role in shaping a healthier planet.

The installation embodied the spirit of healing by urging action, awareness, and accountability in the face of climate change.
